Tata Power signs MoU worth Rs 1,200 billion with Rajasthan government

Tata Power Company Limited has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Rajasthan government to invest Rs 1,200 billion in power distribution, transmission, and renewable energy over the next 10 years to provide round-the-clock power to the state.

As part of the agreement, Tata Power will invest in renewable energy projects, build a solar module manufacturing plant, install rooftop solar systems, and improve transmission and distribution infrastructure. The company will also explore nuclear power and set up electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. Of the total investment, Rs 750 billion will be allocated to renewable energy projects with a capacity of 10,000 MW. This will include 6,000 MW of solar energy and 4,000 MW of hybrid energy in Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Barmer, and Jodhpur. Additionally, a solar module manufacturing plant with a capacity of 2,000 MW will be established in Jodhpur with an investment of Rs 20 billion.

Furthermore, Rs 200 billion will be allocated to improve power distribution infrastructure, and Rs 100 billion will be dedicated to transmission systems. Under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, rooftop solar installations will be carried out for 1 million households. Also, the company has proposed Rs 10 billion investment in setting up 100,0000 EV charging points across Rajasthan.
