About 98 per cent of construction work has been completed under the Buddha Nullah rejuvenation project. Currently, the pumping stations are to be installed and a 3.5 km long sewer line from Sundernagar to Kundanpuri is to be laid. Sewage treatment plants (STPs) are currently operational. The project being implemented by the Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board aims at rejuvenation of the 47.55 km of drain which is highly polluted by industrial and domestic waste. It involves construction of two STPs at Jamalpur and Balloke with capacity of 225 mld and 60 mld respectively, construction of six pumping stations, laying 11 km long pipeline and rehabilitation of existing STPs at Bhattian and Balloke. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 6.5 billion.
