Gujarat government approves PPP model for developing CNG stations

The Gujarat government has approved the public private partnership model for establishing and developing compressed natural gas (CNG) stations in the state. The state government has sanctioned the full dealer owned dealer operated (FDODO) CNG scheme to increase the coverage of CNG stations across the state along with increasing the accessibility of CNG fuel. The FDODO scheme would be implemented by Gujarat Gas Limited and Sabarmati Gas Limited under which the dealers would be in charge of taking approvals for setting up the CNG stations including permissions related to land acquisitions. Currently, there are around 1,002 CNG stations in the state and are likely to increase with the implementation of FDODO scheme.
