Infosys to be supplied with 0.4 million litres of zero-bacteria water by BWSSB

Infosys will be supplied with 0.4 million litres of zero-bacteria water by the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) soon. From May 2024, Wipro has started to be supplied with 0.3 million litres per day (mld) of treated water via tankers. Additionally, BWSSB has also committed to provide 0.2 mld of treated water to Arvind Mills and 0.1 mld to Channabasappa Construction. Ecospace Tech Park and IMZ Ecoworld have also expressed interest to receive the treated water.

The reuse of wastewater has become crucial for the city as its water demand is projected to reach 5,340 mld by 2030 from the current demand of 2,100 mld. Of this demand, BWSSB supplies 1,470 mld from the Cauvery River and the remaining from borewells and tankers.
