The Bedi port rail connectivity project commenced commercial operations on July 13, 2022. The project has been implemented by Gujarat Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (G-RIDE) Bedi Port Rail Limited, an SPV of G-RIDE (26 per cent) and the Gujarat Maritime Board (70 per cent) in engineering, procurement and construction mode. The 3 km railway line has been built at an estimated cost of Rs 700 million. Port connectivity by rail has been a priority project for the central government. In total, there are 93 port connectivity projects worth Rs 77.22 billion being taken up by the MoPSW with Indian Railways (IR).
