Polycrack: Creating self-reliant villages in India

Polycrack® is the world’s first patented heterogeneous catalytic process for reforming contaminated and commingled plastic, rubber, organic and municipal waste into hydrocarbon liquid fuels, gas, carbon and water, without the need for segregation or drying, on the same day the waste is generated.

Polycrack® Worldwide Limited, through its Indian subsidiary, Enecovery Waste Solutions Private Limited, has delivered plants in India and the US. Similar plants are expected to come up in Jordan and New Zealand soon. The first of many operational plants in India is for Indian Railways. It processes industrial waste generated at railway workshop and at Hindalco in Odisha.

Currently, Polycrack® has introduced a product which is affordable, sustainable and can provide renewable green energy to more than 600,000 villages in rural India experiencing power shortages and facing serious waste management issues. The innovative product provides a unique, decentralised, economical waste-to-energy solution, thereby reducing the risk of air pollution and leakage of contaminants into the ground or water table. Accordingly, all waste is converted into valuable outputs which are usable within the community, making the latter more self-reliant, generating power from their waste and creating employment opportunities.

It is a compact unit with a small footprint and is a movable, plug- and- play system, with minimal site requirements, hence addressing the challenge of lack of space to dispose of waste generated in households and small commercial establishments.

Every village and town offers an opportunity to generate power from local waste generated on a daily basis, creating a renewable energy source. The opportunity thus exists on a large scale and there are currently no methods to tackle these issues in a comprehensive manner.

By creating a reforming station at source, unsegregated waste is processed 24 hours daily, thus solving the community’s waste problems without any requirement for transportation.
