New data centre set up by Delhi Jal Board to monitor water supply

The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has set up a data acquisition centre, for master supervisory control and data acquisition, for flow meters to enable real-time monitoring of over 3,000 strategic distribution nodes. DJB’s water supply network comprises 10 water treatment plants (WTPs), 120 primary water reservoirs, 192 tapping points, and over 600 secondary-level reservoirs across the city. The civic agency aims to carry out a complete water audit starting from the outlet of a WTP to the consumer end. In 2018, the board had initiated installation of flow meters at the inlets and outlets of primary and secondary reservoirs across Delhi, which would be rolled out in two stages. Once the installations are complete, the data acquisition centre developed at the Varunalaya headquarters in Jhandewalan, central Delhi, will start operating fully.
