Central government lays foundation stone for Dwarka and Delhi-Mumbai expressways

The central government has laid the foundation stones for the Delhi-Mumbai expressway and the Dwarka expressway. The Delhi-Vadodara-Mumbai expressway is conceived as a 1,320 km greenfield project with an estimated cost of Rs 900 billion. The Delhi-Vadodara expressway is being implemented in five phases at a cost of Rs 450 billion. Bids have been invited for all the phases and are at various stages of finalisation. The Vadodara-Mumbai expressway is being constructed in three phases at a cost of Rs 450 billion. Work has been awarded for part of Phase I and will be awarded for the remaining phases in 2019 itself. The 29 km Dwarka expressway, being implemented at a cost of Rs 90 billion, will commence from Shiv Murti and terminate near Kherki Daula on National Highway (NH)-8. It spans 18.9 km in Haryana and 10.1 km in Delhi.
