The construction work of the Dedicated Test Track for Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO) has reached its final stage and is expected to be completed soon. Moreover, alteration work at Gudha station to connect the test track along with 4.5 km long twisted track for static testing of rolling stock has been completed. Besides, work on high-speed stretch (31.5 km) and accelerated testing loop (3 km) are planned to be completed by September 2026, while curve testing loop at Mithri (20 km) is likely to be completed by December 2026.
This project involves development of a 59 km long broad gauge (BG) test track between Gudha-Thathana Mithari section in Jodhpur railway division of Rajasthan. The dedicated test track will be used for testing of tracks, bridges, rolling stock, signalling, traction and for running of semi high-speed trains.
North Western Railway (NWR) is executing the project in two phases. Phase 1 of the project was sanctioned in December 2018. The second phase was sanctioned in November 2021. The anticipated cost of the project is around Rs 9.67 billion. It includes seven major bridges, 129 minor bridges, and four stations (Gudha, Jabdinagar, Nawa and Mithri).
