The central government has announced plans to construct India’s longest bridge across the Brahmaputra river. The four-lane, 19.3 km bridge will connect Dhubri in Assam to Phulbari in Meghalaya, near the Bangladesh border. It is expected to be completed by 2026-27. Currently, a detailed project report (DPR) for the project is being prepared by the MoRTH. The initial loan for the project has already been approved by the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
