The Mailani-Lakhimpur section of the Lucknow-Pilibhit gauge conversion project was inaugurated on February 14, 2020. The project involves gauge conversion of the 262.72 km rail line between Lucknow and Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh. It is being executed in three phases – the 86.3 km Lucknow-Sitapur (Phase I), the 106.92 km Sitapur-Mailani (Phase II) and the 67.18 km Mailani-Pilibhit (Phase III) sections. The project is being undertaken by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited.
