The central government laid the foundation stones for the Cherlapally satellite railway station project and Nandyal-Yerraguntla railway electrification project in the South Central Railway zone on February 18, 2020. The Cherlapally railway station project involves the development of a new satellite railway station at Cherlapally in Telangana at an estimated cost of Rs 2.21 billion. Meanwhile, the Nandyal-Yerraguntla rail project involves electrification of the existing 123 km long Nandyal-Yerraguntla line in Andhra Pradesh at an estimated cost of Rs 1,114.8 million.
