Indian Railways (IR) has achieved freight loading of 419.08 million tonnes (mt) during the financial year (FY) 2026-27 (till June 2026), as compared to 413.05 mt achieved in the corresponding period last year. Commodity-wise, it registered an increase of 12.16 per cent in balance and other goods, 7.44 per cent in iron ore, and 6.54 per cent in clinker.
During June 2026, IR registered freight loading of 142.21 mt about four per cent increase and freight revenue of Rs 4.3 billion about three per cent increase over June 2025. Commodity wise, loading registered an increase of 19.1 per cent in fertilisers, 17.3 per cent in balance other goods, 9.4 per cent in iron ore, 7.2 percent in clinker, 4.9 per cent in domestic coal, and 3.6 per cent in total coal.
Besides, the passenger traffic achieved in June 2026 stands at 638.1 million as compared to 623.7 million over June 2025. This includes 300.4 million (3.9 per cent increase) registered from non-suburban segment and 337.7 million (0.9 per cent increase) from suburban segment.
