Jewar airport is an upcoming airport near Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. It will be the second airport being developed to support the ever-growing demand for air travel in the Delhi-NCR area. The airport contract was awarded to Zurich Airport International AG for a period of 40 years, which includes a construction period of four years. Zurich Airport International AG conducted a topographical and geographical survey before the signing of the concession agreement. The groundwork is expected to start in the first quarter of 2021. When fully built, the airport is likely to have six to eight runways, the most in India. From a location point of view, the airport has many advantages as it will be just 130 km away from Agra and about 72 km from Delhi, 28 km from Greater Noida and about 40 km from Noida. The airport would be spread over an area of 5,000 hectares and is touted to be India’s largest aviation project.
