The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved the Paradeep-Haridaspur Doubling Project and the Rajkharsawan-Dangoaposi Fourth Rail Line Project covering approximately 145 km across the states of Odisha and Jharkhand on July 15, 2026. The projects have been approved at a combined cost of Rs 39.07 billion.
The projects are planned on the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan with focus on enhancing multimodal connectivity and logistics efficiency. The projects span four districts across Odisha and Jharkhand and are expected to generate additional freight traffic of 44 million tonnes per annum, supporting transportation of commodities including coal, iron ore, dolomite, limestone and gypsum. The capacity augmentation will enhance rail connectivity to approximately 1,526 villages, and improve access to tourist destinations including Lalitgiri Buddhist Complex, Shree Baladevjew Temple and Meghahatuburu Hills.
