The Ministry of Power (MoP) has proposed the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to build intelligent, self-optimising and consumer-focused power distribution networks.
The ministry also highlighted AI/ML applications such as predictive maintenance, smart meter analytics, theft detection, digital twins, appliance-level insights and GenAI decision support to improve distribution company (discom) efficiency and enhance consumer trust. The ministry has urged discoms to collaborate with solution providers and consumers to accelerate deployment. It has also underscored the need for secure data-sharing protocols, interoperability, and capacity building to enable nationwide scaling of digital solutions.
