The Union Government laid the foundation stone and inaugurated railway projects with an estimated cost of Rs 12 billion. The foundation stone was laid for the following projects:
- Kottavalasa-Vizianagaram Fourth Rail Line Project involves constructing a 34.7 km long fourth rail line from Kothavalasa to Vizianagaram in Andhra Pradesh at an estimated cost of Rs 4.92 billion.
- Pendurthy-Simhachalam North Rail Flyover Project involves construction of a 7.13 km long rail flyover between Pendurthy and Simhachalam in Andhra Pradesh. It was sanctioned at a cost of Rs 1.83 billion.
Besides, the centre inaugurated two rail sections. These are Kottavalasa-Boddavara section and Shimiliguda-Gorapur section of the Kothavalasa-Koraput Line Doubling Project.
