Green nod for commercial airport at Kutch and for expansion works at Hyderabad airport

The expert appraisal committee has granted environmental clearances for the development of the proposed commercial airport at Kutch in Gujarat as well as for taking up expansion works at Hyderabad airport. For the airport at Kutch, the clearance has been granted subject to fulfilment of certain conditions like obtaining clearances from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for safety and project facilities. It will entail an investment of Rs 14 billion and will be developed by Mundra International Airport Private Limited. The environmental clearance for Hyderabad airport was given to GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited for taking up expansion works worth Rs 85 billion to cater to 50 million passengers per annum. The expansion works will include construction of a new terminal (T2), expansion of the existing terminal (T1) and cargo terminals, construction of a cargo satellite building and associated warehouses, development of a new runway, and other land-side facilities.
