Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram, Andhra Pradesh witnesses inauguration

The Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram in Andhra Pradesh was inaugurated on August 1, 2026.

The airport has been developed by GMR Visakhapatnam International Airport Limited (GVIAL) under a public-private partnership (PPP) model on a design, build, finance, operate and transfer (DBFOT) basis.

It has been developed on 2,200 acres of land, and features a 77,342 square metre integrated passenger terminal with an initial capacity to handle 6 million passengers per annum (mppa), scalable to over 40 mppa. The airport also features a 3,800-metre Code 4E runway, a parallel taxiway, rapid exit taxiways, 18 aircraft stands and a 55-metre air traffic control (ATC) tower.

It also integrates technology into operations through DigiYatra, an Airport Predictive Operations Centre (APOC), etc. and adopts key sustainability features including the use of energy-efficient systems and a 5 MW solar power plant.

Commercial operations are expected to commence on August 17, 2026.
