Indian Railways (IR) approved the Upgradation of Electric Traction System of Wadi-Raichur Double Rail Line Section Project on July 30, 2026. It has been sanctioned at a cost of Rs 2.2 billion.
The project involves upgradation of existing 1×25 KV electric traction system into 2×25 kV electric traction system for double rail line section between Wadi and Raichur, covering 102 route km (rkm) (204 track km (tkm)) in the state of Karnataka. The section is part of the High Density Network (HDN) Route-7 connecting Mumbai-Pune-Wadi-Raichur-Guntakal-Kadapa-Renigunta-Chennai.
