The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has issued 0.5 million annual passes, collecting Rs 1.5 billion within four days of the yearly toll permits. Tamil Nadu has purchased the maximum number of Annual Passes, followed by Karnataka and Haryana. Additionally, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh registered the highest number of transactions made at the toll plazas using FASTag Annual Pass.
Approximately 1,150 toll plazas on national highways and expressways are covered by the annual pass. All non-commercial vehicles having a valid FASTag are eligible, and it gets activated two hours after the one-time fee is paid via the NHAI website or the Rajmargyatra App.
With this pass, private vehicles would be able to travel freely via toll plazas on national highways and expressways. The pass requires an upfront payment of Rs 3,000 and works in tandem with the current highway user fee collection system and permits 200 private user trips or crossings on toll plazas. Furthermore, each crossing counts as one trip, a round trip counts as two trips.
