As part of its sustainability-focused approach, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) will develop all 12 proposed station buildings of Rishikesh-Karanprayag New Rail Line Project in Uttarakhand, in line with Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) guidelines. The stations will incorporate green building features such as LED lighting, solar power utilisation, natural lighting optimisation, rainwater harvesting, low-flow water fixtures, eco-friendly construction materials and scientific waste management systems to enhance energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
The project involves laying of a 125.09 km long new railway line connecting Rishikesh, in the foothills of the Himalayas, to Karanprayag in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand with an investment of Rs 227.16 billion.
