L&T’s energy hydrocarbon onshore business has secured a large contract from Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited, a joint venture of Coal India Limited and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, for a coal-to-ammonia-nitrate project in Odisha.
The order involves the development of a nitric acid and ammonium nitrate plant. It will be executed on a lump sum turnkey basis (Package-4) with single-point responsibility. The facility will convert coal into ammonium nitrate with a planned production capacity of 2,000 tonnes per day. The scope of work includes process licensing, design, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, performance testing, and final handover of the plant and its facilities.
