New berth at V. O. Chidambaranar Port commences operation

The V.O. Chidambaranar Port has announced the commencement of operations at a new berth with a capacity of 95,000 deadweight tonnage (DWT). The north cargo berth-III is operated by JSW Tuticorin Multipurpose Terminal Private Limited.

It has a draft of 14.20 metres, a quay length of 306 metres, and can accommodate vessels up to 260 metres in length with a beam of 48 metres.

The terminal is equipped to handle dry bulk cargo such as coal, limestone, gypsum, rock phosphate, and copper concentrate. It also features two 120-tonnes harbour mobile cranes.
