The Union Government inaugurated the Pamban New Railway Bridge Project on April 6, 2025.
The project involved the construction of a new 2.05 km long bridge near the Pamban bridge in Tamil Nadu in lieu of the existing scherzer rolling lifting bridge on the Mandapam-Pamban rail line at an investment of Rs 7 billion. It is a vertical leaf type bridge.
