Chennai Metro Rail Limited appoints Delhi Metro Rail Corporation as O&M contractor for Chennai Metro Rail Project Phase II

Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has appointed Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) as the operation and maintenance (O&M) contractor for the Chennai Metro Rail Project Phase II. It awarded the contract worth Rs 58.7 billion for the same to DMRC on April 2, 2025.

This contract aims at enhance the quality of service across the phase II network for the passengers by overseeing day-to-day operations, maintenance, customer service, managing station facilities, train schedules and implementing safety protocols for a smooth passenger experience.

The project involves development of 118.9 km of three metro corridors (corridor III, IV and V) in Chennai,Tamil Nadu, at an estimated cost of Rs 632.46 billion. It is mostly underground with an elevated section confined to a few short stretches and consists of 128 stations in total.
