The Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad’s project to connect the Delhi-Agra National Highway in Mathura with the Yamuna Expressway (Noida-Agra) worth Rs 16.45 billion has been approved. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will now start the first phase of the land acquisition for the project.
The 15 km, six-lane route would link the Delhi-Agra Highway close to Jaint with the Yamuna Expressway at its 101st km. A bridge across the Yamuna River is also being planned. Additionally, a multi-level parking structure that can accommodate 3,000 cars will be constructed. This will ease traffic by enabling tourists to park their cars outside the city. In order to streamline pilgrimage trips to the Banke Bihari Temple, the state has already approved Rs 1.5 billion for the development of a corridor in Vrindavan that is comparable to those in Ayodhya and Varanasi.
The project blueprint was presented to the state government by the Parishad over three years ago.
