The Government of Maharashtra has approved the uptake of public-private partnership (PPP) mode for the Mumbai metro phase III line 8 project [Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) – Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA)]. Additionally, the City and Industrial Development Corporation has been appointed as the nodal agency for the project.
The project involves the development of a 35 km long elevated metro rail network from CSMIA in Mumbai to NMIA in Navi Mumbai having a total of 20 stations at an estimated cost of Rs 150 billion. About 25.8 km is elevated whereas the remaining 8.2 km is likely to be underground.
