The Union Government laid the foundation stone for three rail projects at Rairangpur, Odisha. These include:
- Bangriposi-Gorumahisani new rail line project involving developing a 85.6 km new rail line between Bangriposi-Gorumahisani stations in Odisha.
- Buramara-Chakulia section of the Buramara-Chakulia new line project including upgradation of Rupsa-Buramara section. The project which will cover a route length of 134.96 km and will be executed by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL). The scope of work involves construction of a 59.96 km new line between Buramara and Chakulia and upgradation of the 75 km existing line between Rupsa-Buramara section. This link will shorten Rupsa-Chakulia distance from 167 kms to 125 kms.
- Badampahar-Keonjhar new rail line project involvig construction of a 82.06 km long new rail line from Badampahar to Keonjhar in Odisha.
