The Government of West Bengal inaugurated Phase I of the Gajoldoba drinking WSS at Jalpaiguri in Siliguri, West Bengal under AMRUT 2.0 on September 13, 2024. Under Phase I, a 28 km long pipeline from Gajoldoba to the Fulbari water treatment plant was laid at an estimated cost of Rs 2.04 billion. The project aims to directly pump water from the Teesta river to supply about 135 mld of water to the 47 wards of the Siliguri municipality area, at an estimated cost of Rs 5.11 billion. The entire project is likely to be completed by December 2025.
