The Union Government is likely to merge the Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) with the Indian Railway to facilitate enhanced passenger services. Moreover, KRCL encompasses the area from Maharashtra to Kerala, and hence, consultation with respect to this merger has already taken place with the state governments of Karnataka, Kerala and Goa.
Further, the merger process will begin after final consultation with the government of Maharashtra.
