East Coast Railway (ECoR) has achieved the fastest-ever freight loading of 100.57 million tonnes (mt) in 148 days, during April-August 2024 (till August 26, 2024), an increase of 3.37 per cent over the corresponding period of last year. Further, division-wise freight loading registered across the zone includes 64.32 mt for Khurda road division, 27.67 mt for Waltair division and 8.57 mt for Sambalpur division.
Besides, commodity-wise, ECoR recorded 60.93 mt in coal, 32.87 mt in cement, 12.15 mt in iron ore, 8.41 mt in miscellaneous cargo, 3.81 in raw materials for steel plants, 2.28 mt in fertilisers, 1.07 mt in foodgrains, and 1.24 mt in petroleum, oil and lubricants (POL) among others.
