MoPSW plans to expand its shore-to-ship power infrastructure and revise policy guidelines

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) is planning to expand its shore-to-ship power infrastructure and revise policy guidelines for Indian ports to have the infrastructure to supply shore power to large export-import vessels, coastal vessels, and harbour craft. This will help in reducing vessel emissions within the port area.

The roadmap under discussion includes possible financing schemes with the help of the Power Finance Corporation. It has been proposed that funding a pilot programme be rolled out in selected ports, and the model can then be replicated on a larger scale.
