88 per cent work completed on phase I of Vizhinjam ICTT Project

About 88 per cent of construction work on the Vizhinjam International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT) project phase-I has been completed. Besides, trial operations on the same are expected to begin by the end of June 2024.

Currently, about 98 per cent of the dredging and reclamation works, 92 per cent of the berth, 94 per cent of the building construction, 74 per cent of the construction of the container yard, 91 per cent of the project equipment works including cranes and 70 per cent of the construction of the roads and gate complex have been completed.

The project involves construction of a greenfield, deepwater ICTT at Vizhinjam in Kerala on a design, build, finance, operate and transfer basis for a concession period of 40 years. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 77 billion.
