Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has been installing rooftop-based solar power plants to achieve the target of net zero carbon emissions by 2030. As of April 2024, the zone has already deployed the same at 146 stations and service buildings, leading to a total production of 6,747 kilowatts peak (KWp).
The daily power generation of Katihar division is at 657 KWp, Alipurduar at 426 KWp, Rangiya at 925KWp, Lumding at 1035 KWp, Tinsukia at 207 KWp. Moreover, solar power plants with a capacity of 1000 KWp each have also been installed at New Bongaigaon and Dibrugarh workshops.
