Two major flyovers in north Chennai to be completed by end of 2024

Traffic congestion in north Chennai is set to improve as the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) aims to complete two flyovers by the end of 2024. The Vyasarpadi flyover in Ganeshapuram, costing Rs 1.42 billion, is 0.68 km long and 15 m wide. It will alleviate monsoon flooding issues in the Ganeshapuram subway by diverting two-lane traffic into six lanes, including four lanes on the flyover and two in the subway.

In Korukkupet, the construction of a 0.84 km long, 7.4 m wide flyover, costing Rs 0.96 billion, is underway. This flyover will enhance traffic flow over a railway crossing, facilitating faster commutes to Kodungaiyur and beyond. Both projects had previously faced delays due to land acquisition but are now progressing steadily, promising significant traffic relief upon completion.
