EIB grants funding approval for Bengaluru suburban rail project

European Investment Bank (EIB) granted in-principle approval for loan worth Rs 26.93 billion (300 million Euros) for the Bengaluru suburban rail project on May 8, 2024. With this, loan component worth Rs 167.67 billion has been completely mobilised.

The project involves development of 148.17 km long suburban network in Bengaluru city of Karnataka. It is being implemented by K-RIDE in the following four corridors: Corridor 1: Bengaluru City to Yelahanka to Devanhalli and airport link route; Corridor 2: Baiyyappanahalli to Yeshwantpura to Chikbanavara route; Corridor 3: Kengeri to Bengaluru City to Whitefield route; and Corridor 4: Heelalige to Yelahanka to Rajanakunte route.
