Air India has borrowed $120 million from Japanese lender SMBC for the purchase of a wide-body aircraft from Airbus. Reportedly, the airline’s purchase of an A350-900 aircraft delivered in October 2023 has been partly financed by the transaction. The loan is a secured debt facility, and the borrower is AI Fleet Services, Air India’s GIFT City-headquartered arm.
