Gujarat government launches tender for procuring 1,000 MW short-term power

The Gujarat government has launched a tender for the procurement of 1,000 MW on a short-term basis between August 1, 2018 and June 30, 2019 under the Flexible Utilisation of Coal Scheme. Under the scheme, the state will transfer coal from the Korba coalfield in Chhattisgarh and the Rewa coalfield in Madhya Pradesh (which have been allocated to generating stations of Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited) to new successful bidders. The tender has been issued to compensate for a shortfall of about 3,000 MW of power due to curtailment of supply from imported coal-based power plants of Adani Power and Essar Power.
