ADB to give Rs 17 billion for sewage treatment facilities in Uttrakhand

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has agreed in principle to provide financial assistance for the creation of sewage treatment facilities in Uttarakhand. ADB is expected to sanction Rs 17 billion for building infrastructure, sewage plants, and water supply systems for municipal corporations in urban areas of the state.

The Power Finance Corporation (PFC) has provided a loan of Rs 2.9 billion to the 24 MW Bawana waste-to-energy (WtE) project in Delhi, being operated by the Ramky Group. The project, which was commissioned in 2017, is the largest operational WtE plant in the country. It is part of a 2,000 tonne per day integrated municipal solid waste management system and handles about 20 per cent of Delhi’s municipal solid waste. The funding marks PFC’s entry into the WtE segment.
