An MoU has been signed between Konkan Railway Corporation Limited and Vizhinjam International Seaport Limited for the implementation of the Vizhinjam-Balaramapuram port-rail connectivity project. The project involves the development of a 12 km railway line (8 km tunnel) to provide connectivity to the upcoming Vizhinjam deepwater seaport. It is expected to cost Rs 8.94 billion and is scheduled to be completed by May 2022.
