Funds have been released to five states under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) 2.0 following the fulfilment of mandatory compliance requirements. The states include Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh. A total of Rs 15.62 billion has been disbursed, with Uttar Pradesh receiving Rs 7.93 billion, Chhattisgarh Rs 5.37 billion, Madhya Pradesh Rs 1.54 billion, Odisha Rs 653.1 million and Maharashtra Rs 127.4 million. To strengthen transparency, accountability and service delivery, a structured validation mechanism has been introduced, which states must satisfy prior to fund release. This includes the signing of an MoU for JJM 2.0 implementation, validation of schemes through the Sujalam Bharat GIS-linked asset registry, certification of compliance with the Central Public Health and Environmental Engineering Organisation’s design norms, along with technical advisory support from the JJM, and proper financial reconciliation of expenditure incurred.
