Western Railway (WR) commissioned the Kavach 4.0 automatic train protection system on the 96 km long Bajwa (Vadodara)-Ahmedabad section on December 29, 2025. The system was operationalised with the first Kavach-equipped run of the Sankalp Fast Passenger train between Vadodara and Ahmedabad.
Further, under the deployment, all locomotives operating on the Bajwa-Ahmedabad route have been fitted with Kavach equipment, with 17 stations covered, 23 communication towers installed, 192 km of optical fibre laid and Network Management Systems set up at Pratapnagar (Vadodara) and Ahmedabad.
