Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) has commenced land acquisition for the East-West Dedicated Freight Corridor Project (EWDFC). Besides, the detailed project report (DPR) for the project is underway.
The project involves construction of a 2,052 km long corridor between Kolkata in West Bengal and Mumbai in Maharashtra which includes, the Palghar-Bhusawal-Nagpur-Kharagpur-Dankuni section (2,163 km) and Rajkharsawan-Kalipahari-Andal section (195 km) at an estimated cost of Rs 2,470 billion.
