The Ministry of Mines has set a target to develop 3 trillion per annum of recycling capacity for the extraction of critical minerals from secondary sources under the Rs 15 billion incentive scheme for critical mineral recycling.
The scheme was launched on October 2, 2025 and will remain open for applications until April 1, 2026. In a recent review meeting, the Ministry of Mines highlighted strong stakeholder interest, with several entities already registered on the application portal. Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminium Research, Development & Design Centre (JNARDDC), the designated project management agency has been tasked with conducting nationwide consultations and providing application support. The scheme aims to facilitate the recovery of minerals from e-waste, lithium-ion batteries, and industrial scrap.
