Indian Railways achieves electrification of 69,154 rkm of its network by August 31, 2025 

Indian Railways (IR) has achieved electrification of 69,154 route km (rkm) of its network, as of August 31, 2025. This constitutes 99.1 per cent of its cumulative broad gauge (BG) network of 69,800 rkm.

Zone-wise, progress on electrification includes 6,053 rkm out of 6,146 rkm (98 per cent) for North Western Railway (NWR); 4,945 rkm out of 5,062 rkm (98 per cent) for Southern Railway (SR); 3,296 rkm out of 3,463 rkm (95 per cent) for South Western Railway (SWR); and 3,927 rkm out of 4,196 rkm (94 per cent) for Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR). All remaining zones of IR have achieved 100 per cent electrification.
