Rasmi Ranjan Ray: CEO, SUEZ India

Rasmi Ranjan Ray is presently Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at SUEZ India. He is responsible for overseeing the group’s activities in India and the subcontinent.

Prior to joining the SUEZ Group in 2024, Ray worked in broader industrial sectors and worked with notable organisations such as Praxair, Inc. (now Linde), Alstom and Siemens. His expertise lies in leadership, business operations and project management. His experience spans various industries, including railways, and process control and automation used in manufacturing industries. Overall, he has around three decades of experience.

Ray has executed top-tier projects across India, the UK, Singapore and Australia. He has overseen a number of significant engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects, including the world’s largest gas plant in south India, the first driverless metro project in India, an autonomous mine-to-port rail in Australia, and high speed rail projects in Europe.

With regard to the infrastructure sector, he states, “The government, through an enhanced budget allocation this year, has shown a strong interest in supporting the infrastructure sector. In line with this, Suez is in complete sync with the government’s ambition of achieving the Viksit Bharat status by 2047.”

His management style is both collaborative and consultative. Ray says, “I like to be clear and concise with my approach. During crises, regular monitoring of potential risks and mitigation measures is part of our periodic risk assessment process. Moreover, we have strong safety protocols in place to ensure that SUEZ remains a safe workplace for all.”

Ray is an environmentalist at heart and believes in giving back to the community in a sustainable way. He has been associated with numerous social causes including child education and healthcare.

In his free time, he likes to read books, exercise and spend quality time with his family. Ray shares, “We are a family of three including my wife and son and I enjoy my personal life as much as my work life and strive hard to create a balance between the two.”

Ray holds a bachelor’s degree in Engineering and an executive MBA from the Indian School of Business (ISB). He is also a recipient of numerous certifications from prestigious management schools, such as the Kellogg School of Management, the Wharton School and the China Europe International Business School.
