Kalpataru Projects International Limited casts first batch of package BH-04 under Bhopal metro phase I

Kalpataru Projects International Limited (KPIL) has recently casted the first batch of tunnel ring segments of package BH-04 under the Bhopal metro rail project phase I.

The twin tunnels for the package are likely to connect the ramp south of Sindhi Colony station with a ramp west of Aish Bagh Crossing Station via two underground stations at Bhopal Junction station and Nadra Bus Stand.

Package BH-04 involves design and construction of twin tunnel [up and down by shield tunnel boring machine (TBM)], cut and cover, cross-passages with/ without sump, ramps, two underground stations (Nadra Bus Stand and Bhopal Railway station) including architectural finishing, water supply, sanitary installation and drainage works in entire underground section from chainage 28.37 km to 31.76 km. KPIL was awarded the contract for the same in March 2024.

The Bhopal metro project involves development of a metro rail transit system in Madhya Pradesh comprising two corridors of a total length of 27.87 km at an estimated cost of Rs 69.4 billion.
