Construction work on various WTPs in West Bengal may complete by December 2026

The construction work on various water treatment plants (WTP) in West Bengal is likely to be completed by December 2026. These include, the Dhapa WTP project phase II which involves the construction of a 20 million gallons per day (mgd) WTP. It will enhance the current capacity of the plant from 30 mgd upto 50 mgd, construction of a clear water reservoir cum pump house of 5 mg capacity including 1.5 million gallons capacity raw water sump cum pump house and sludge handling system with a centrifuge at Jai Hind Jal Prakalpa Complex in Dhapa in West Bengal on a turnkey basis at an estimated cost of Rs 1.32 billion. It also includes the Tollygunge-Jadavpur WTP project which involves the construction of WTP to meet the water supply needs for areas of Garia, Jadavpur and Tollygunge. The plant will produce drinking water of 10 mgd. The plant will be constructed on a 4-acre plot near Briji Metro station, along the stretch of EM Bypass between the Dhalai bridge and the Kamalgazi crossing at an estimated cost of Rs 770 million.
