The central government inaugurated the mechanisation of Berth 14 Project at Karnataka’s New Mangalore Port on September 2, 2022. The project will be executed on the DBFOT basis under the PPP mode. It is meant to improve the handling of containers and other clean cargos. It is being carried out in two phases at an estimated cost of Rs 2.8 billion – Rs 1.27 billion for Phase I and Rs 1.53 billion for Phase II. Meanwhile, the foundation stone was laid for five other projects worth around Rs 10 billion undertaken by the port.
